For Family and Friends

Stronger Together webinar programme

Stronger Together is a series of five educational webinars for family and friends of veterans where you can learn about PTSD and trauma related mental health. The sessions include both educational and practical skills development, so you can apply what you have learnt straight away. Each webinar is one hour long and delivered live by our in-house clinical lead.

All five webinars will run in July and October 2026 and in February and June 2027 so you have the chance to attend at a time that works for you.

To gain access to the webinars, join our learning community and tick that you would like to take part in the webinar series.

The webinars are completely free of charge thanks to funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.

Stronger Together webinar content

Webinar 1 - Support a veteran with PTSD symptoms

This webinar helps you better understand the impact of trauma on veterans and how it can show up in everyday life. You’ll gain clarity on trauma in the military, PTSD,
and how to recognise common signs and symptoms. By building this awareness, you’ll feel more confident responding with empathy and understanding. You’ll also learn practical ways to support a veteran in distress, empowering you to offer meaningful support while feeling more informed, capable, and supported yourself.

Webinar 2 - Overcome communication challenges

This session helps you strengthen connection and communication with a veteran by deepening your understanding of how communication styles are shaped, including the lasting influence of military culture. You’ll learn how timing and context can make conversations more effective, and what you do, and don’t, need to know to be supportive without feeling overwhelmed. By exploring love languages and strategies for reconnection, you’ll gain practical ways to rebuild closeness and trust. You’ll also learn how to create emotionally safe environments and gently reconnect through shared activities you once enjoyed together, helping you foster stronger, more meaningful relationships.

Webinar 3 - Respond to anger and keep safe

This session helps you better understand anger and how it relates to military experiences and trauma. You’ll gain clarity on what anger is, why it occurs, and how it can be shaped by service life, including its connection to PTSD. By learning the difference between anger and aggression, you’ll feel more confident responding calmly and effectively rather than fearfully or reactively. You’ll also explore ways to create emotionally and physically safe
environments and learn how safety plans can reduce risk and increase stability, empowering you to support a veteran with greater confidence, understanding, and reassurance, for both them and yourself.

Webinar 4 - Support a veteran with depression

In this session you will gain a clearer understanding of what low mood is and why it can be common for veterans, particularly when trauma is part of their experience. You will learn how houghts, feelings, and behaviours are linked, helping you make sense of changes you may see in your loved one and respond with greater confidence and compassion. You can expect to explore how negative thoughts develop and practical ways to respond that are supportive rather than overwhelming.  Most importantly, you will leave with practical, everyday strategies to help improve mood through activity, empowering you to support your loved one while also protecting your own emotional wellbeing.

Webinar 5 - Maintain your own wellbeing and access further support

This session puts your wellbeing at the centre of the recovery journey, helping you understand why looking after yourself is not only valid but essential. You’ll explore values-led living and the foundations of wellbeing, giving you practical ways to maintain balance, resilience, and purpose. You’ll gain a clearer picture of what recovery can realistically look like, helping you hold hope while managing expectations. The session also shows you what support is available, both for you and your veteran, so you don’t feel alone or unsure about where to turn. Hearing a real veteran’s recovery story brings reassurance and perspective, helping you see that progress is possible, and that support
truly makes a difference.
